30 years of DATAWIN and InoTec

Press Release

Germany’s leading scanner manufacturer celebrates company anniversary – and announces new high-performance scanner.

Ergolding near Landshut, August 17, 2022. The Lower Bavarian niche world market leader DATAWIN GmbH with its production scanner brands DATAWIN and InoTec turns thirty. The medium-sized company celebrates its anniversary with a big party in the Stadtsäle Bernlochner. For the end of the anniversary year, it announces a document scanner world premiere.

The success stories of DATAWIN and InoTec each begin in 1992: Peter Schrittenlocher, Ernst Wendleder and Max H.-H. Schaber found DATAWIN in Landshut. Almost at the same time, Peter Schnautz, Jürgen Kaus, Klaus Atzbach and Friedhelm Schmidt launch InoTec in Wetzlar, Hesse. In the following decades, the two medium-sized document scanner brands hold their own against international conglomerates – with one and the same strategy: both companies develop and produce exclusively in Germany and focus on innovative premium products. The international scanner market rewards this focus on quality: DATAWIN becomes the leading provider of scan special developments and supplies, among others, the world’s largest election service provider with customer-specific election scanners. With its SCAMAX® series, InoTec sets international standards in terms of performance, durability and sustainability in high-volume document scanning.

One company, three brands, global customers

In 2019, DATAWIN and InoTec join forces and now operate as DATAWIN GmbH with the three independent brands DATAWIN, InoTec and BAPIS. With over 100 employees at its Ergolding and Wölfersheim sites, the company supports governments, public authorities, corporations and service providers worldwide with document scanners for high-speed digitization and sorting of large volumes of paper: be it incoming mail documents, archives, election ballots, prescriptions or betting slips; be it for archiving or for transferring paper-based documents into digital processes. The development, design and production of the machines are still carried out exclusively in Germany.

Peter Schrittenlocher, Managing Partner DATAWIN GmbH:

“Our development from a two-man operation to a company with over one hundred employees, our own production facilities and a global customer base is a great success that we would not have thought possible back in 1992 in our small office in the Landshut Altstadt. I would like to thank all our employees and partners for their commitment and all our customers and suppliers for their trust. Our company is well prepared for the next 30 years, new projects have been signed and sealed, and the scanner market is healthier than ever, despite – or rather because of – the digital revolution.”

Celebrations and scanner world premiere

All employees and their families are invited to DATAWIN headquarters in Landshut for the two-day anniversary celebrations at the beginning of September. There, they can look forward to guided tours through the gothic old town and to the Wittelsbach castle Trausnitz, a gala dinner in the Stadtsäle Bernlochner and a concluding morning pint.

Johannes Boerboom, Managing Partner DATAWIN GmbH:

“We are looking forward to two great days with all our employees and their families. They have all played a part in our joint success story and have every reason to be proud of their work over the past years and decades. We want to celebrate this and take a breather together for a moment before the next sprint: the market launch of a new scanner development, which we will present this winter.”
